My First 3k Run - Off the Bucket List!

A friend asked me: "Masarap ba? Anong flavor?"
I can only reply this: "Masarap yung tubig pag umimon ka after. Nagkakalasa. Parang Chocolate!"

But seriously, it was very fulfilling! I was able to finish it within 37-39 minutes. And to think that I deviated from our 3k route and was following a 12k route only to realize it when I was already going uphill! It was both annoying and fun at the same time, you know.

The Los Banos Uphill Challenge by Run Mania Philippines started at exactly 5:35 am last Saturday. We arrived at around 5:45 - 10 minutes late and the runners were already nowhere in sight. My husband and I made a sprint just to be able to catch up! I ended up catching my breath midway instead. I'm talking about no warm-ups here. Not to mention, no whatsoever preparation for this big leap in my life. If you're wondering why I'm so proud of this seemingly small achievement, well, you bet I am! This is something new to me and something promising.

I contemplated enough whether to publish my running photos taken during the event or not. These images sadden me, in fact, they totally frighten me. But I'm showing this to you now because I am going to have a commitment with my self. These will be part of the images I'll be keeping in my mind just in case I result to stress-eating one of these days due to, well, stress, what else?

The husband texting me asking where I was at this moment.

I AM FAT. I KNOW. But, I can do something about it. And I have to start NOW.

My Breakfast Bowl

Actually, my husband's breakfast bowl since I don't eat bacon. I finally figured out how to properly add egg in my fried rice. I've been craving for Chinese Food since time immemorial, I think. So I attempted to make my own version of Yang chow fried rice. I topped it off with bacon strips since I do not have ham at the moment. My husband loved it! As for me and Dibo, I made pancakes. It's plain and simple but don't worry, I'd try to be creative next time.

Making and preparing breakfast is now my Sunday's best because I'm well rested the night before (LOL!) and I'm trying to impose Sunday as our family day. I hope I get to keep this routine going until my child/children is old enough to have their own family day. So, wish me luck!

Meatless Chop suey and Fish Fillet for Dinner

Ever since we temporarily moved in to the province, I always make it to a point to cook every time I get a chance to do so. It started with a Sunday breakfast and eventually my help and I agreed that whenever I work from home, I'll be the one in-charged of cooking. So last Thursday, I made meatless Chop suey and Fish Fillet for dinner.

The ingredients: Not in the picture are some chopped ginger, onions and garlic.

Stirred them a little. I sauteed the ginger first, because I wanted to bring out its flavor, followed by some onion and garlic. I then added the carrots and chayote and voila!

I added a little fish sauce for flavoring, some salt and pepper to taste and half cup of water. When the carrots and chayote were almost cooked, I then added the beans and cauliflower.

Here's a picture of my meatless Chop suey:

For the fish fillet, I used Cream Dory. I first dipped the slices into my scrambled eggs mixture before coating it into McCormick Fish Nuggets Seasoning Mix.

I then proceeded into semi-deep frying it over medium heat.

And finally, some home-cooked fish fillet that my family enjoyed over dinner:

Feel free to send me some comments or suggestions. I'm an eager learner. See you on my next kitchen adventure!
